The new passenger terminal was inaugurated, with forty check-in desks, sixteen boarding gates, three baggage conveyor belts at departures and four at arrivals.

Besides the reformulation of all the support systems and infrastructures, this construction work at the airport also took into consideration aspects linked to the new accesses for the parking of cars, with special attention being given to the redesign of the road structure around the airport and the access route to the town of Machico.
