Investments
The Madeira Airports have some significant investment projects currently in progress, designed to improve the quality of the services that they render to their users. These investments include:
- Search and Rescue Centre – an investment of 15,000,000 Euros. This is an infrastructure located under the runway at Madeira Airport whose aim is to support and coordinate rescue operations off the southern coast of Madeira.
- “100% HBS” Project – an investment of 10,000,000 Euros. This is a project designed to provide the two infrastructures (Madeira and Porto Santo) with all the necessary equipment for 100% hold baggage screening, an operation that is planned to be carried out automatically.
- Adaptation of the former Porto Santo Air Terminal for SLCI (Rescue and Fire Fighting) purposes – an investment of 2,000,000 Euros. This involves the conversion of the former Porto Santo Air Terminal building into a fire station.
