Passengers - Passenger's Guide
Dear passenger, if you are boarding or disembarking at our airport, and notwithstanding any information you may have been given by your Travel Agency / Airline, we ask you to pay special attention to the following procedures.
We are sure that, if you follow these procedures, you will avoid any problems or difficulties during the rest of your journey.
Minimum Check-in Times:
- Domestic) Flights to Porto Santo: 45 minutes
- (Domestic) Flights to the Azores/Mainland Portugal: 60 minutes
- International Flights/Europe: 75 minutes
- Intercontinental Flights: 90 minutes
Boarding Procedures:
- The Departure Area is located on Level 1 of the Terminal building.
- It is essential that you arrive at the airport in good time before your take-off. Depending on your destination, we recommend that you check in well before the minimum times shown above.
Important Note:
- Never at any moment take your eyes off your luggage or leave it unattended during your time at the terminal;
- Never "do the favour" of carrying other people’s objects or packages in your luggage.
- If you’re taking a non-domestic flight, keep your identification (passport for flights to non-Schengen countries) together with your boarding pass and make sure they are both easily accessible, so that you can show them again.
- After completing your check-in, proceed to the departure lounge. You may have to show your boarding pass to the security officer in order to gain access to this restricted area.
- Remember that you will have to pass through a metal detector. It will be helpful if you keep the metal objects that you are carrying in your pockets separate, so that you can gain access to the departure lounge as quickly as possible.
- Listen carefully to the spoken announcements and pay close attention to the screens distributed around the terminal. Always respect the times of the calls for check-in and boarding.
- Finally, always remain cheerful and take advantage of your time to do some last-minute shopping at the different shops that you will find at the airport.
Boarding Procedures:
The Departure Lounge is located on Level 0 of the Terminal building.
- When boarding a non-Schengen flight, you will have to pass through Passport Control. So, always have your identification with you (a passport if you are not Portuguese) in an easily accessible place. .
- Pay close attention to the screens that will show you which belt the luggage from your flight will be unloaded on.
- If you are unable to find your luggage, proceed to the desk of your airline company, who will know how to solve the problem for you.
- After claiming your baggage, make your way to the exit.
If you have anything to declare, use the Red Channel. Otherwise, use the Green Channel, or the Blue Channel if you are a EU Citizen.
